How to import a CSV with company information

Updated over 4 months ago

When uploading in bulk, you can use the Data Upload tool to quickly import company information into your Gemifi account.

When using the Data Upload tool, company information will need to be added to your account before you are able to use the quick upload options for client and equity data.

Bulk upload a company

1. Once you've logged into your Gemifi account, to bulk upload company data, first select the Data Upload button from the menu on the left side. On the Data Upload page, select Company from the menu at the top.

2. Select the Download Template button to download a CSV with the pre-filled column headers. Fill in the fields with the appropriate data, save the update, and upload the new CSV to the upload box.

The following fields are present in the Company CSV:

  • Company Name: (Required) If the company is public, only fill in the symbol field as Gemifi will populate the name using the symbol.

  • Company Symbol: (Required) If the company is private, Gemifi will automatically create the symbol using the name provided.

  • Public/Private: (Required) If the company added is Private, Gemifi will create the company symbol that includes "PR" followed by the first three digits of the company name.

  • FMV: (Required) If the company is Public, Gemifi will pull this automatically. If the company is Private, we suggest adding a value that is equal to the 409a valuation.

  • In Carta: Add a yes, or no, if this company is in Carta.

  • 10b51: Add a yes, or no, to allow a 10b51 rule.

  • Equity Platform 1: Add the platform where the company tracks it's equity.

  • Equity Platform 2: If the company uses multiple platforms for tracking it's equity, add the second platform here.

  • Transfer Agent: Add the transfer agent the company is using (either Computer Share or Continental). If there isn't a transfer agent, add None.

  • QSBS Date: This is the beginning date to qualify for company stock treatment.

3. Once a new company is uploaded, if edits are needed, select that company from the Companies page to make any edits necessary.
