Before interpreting equity values, check the company price and valuation basis used in the model.
Review the company record
Open Companies and select the issuer.
Confirm the public/private status and symbol.
Review the current FMV or private-company valuation information and its date.
Review available price-history and source information before changing a value.
A current price is different from the historical FMV attached to a vest or exercise. Do not overwrite historical transaction values simply to match today's price.
Review future assumptions
Growth and standard deviation affect projections; they are assumptions, not a promised return. The client Profile shows stock assumptions, including inherited values. Check client-specific settings when two projections differ.
Private companies can have more than one relevant valuation basis. Confirm the basis selected in the client deliverable, and explain it in the client discussion.
If a value looks stale or unavailable
Check the issuer, symbol, public/private status, and date/source shown in the company record. Review whether the workflow offers an advisor-entered price or another supported source. Contact Chat with us if the expected price is missing; do not assume an uninterrupted real-time feed.
After correcting company inputs, review Equity, plan comparisons, and the resulting report before sharing it.
