Create and compare cashflow scenarios

Use cashflow scenarios for questions such as a one-time expense, a different tax-payment month, or a revised opening cash balance.

Start from the right version

  1. Open the client → Cashflow.

  2. Select the intended plan and year.

  3. In Cashflow Scenario Library, use Load to open a saved scenario or Base cashflow.

  4. Select New Scenario for a new draft, or Duplicate to start from an existing version.

Cashflow scenario draft and library

Give the scenario a descriptive name, such as “Home purchase in November.”

Add cash changes

  • Use Add Other Cash Inflow for an additional inflow.

  • Use Add Manual Cash Outflow for an additional outflow.

  • Edit the relevant month in an editable row.

  • Review the Federal and State payment rows when modeling tax-payment timing.

  • In Cash Balance Tracker, editing beginning-of-month cash sets a new starting balance from that month forward. Use this only when you intend that balance override.

Confirm that a manual row does not duplicate income, expenses, or equity proceeds already supplied by the selected plan and profile.

Save and compare

Use Save for changes to a saved scenario or Save As to keep a separate version. A new draft shows an unsaved-changes message until saved. Check the library status before leaving the page.

Load each saved version using the same year and plan, then compare monthly ending cash and the lowest balance. Use exports or client deliverables to preserve the versions for a discussion.

Rename changes the saved label. Delete removes that scenario's saved cash events, payment rows, and cash overrides.

Cashflow edits model cash movement. Reconcile corresponding tax-scenario inputs separately before relying on a balance-due estimate.
