For an RSU grant, review the vesting schedule and the shares the client actually retains after withholding and sales.
Check the grant
Open the client → Equity and open the RSU grant.
Compare grant date, quantity, and vesting schedule with the award documents.
Review recorded vest, withholding, and sale activity.
Reconcile remaining holdings with the equity-platform statement.
Use Add equity for entry steps and record transactions for completed activity.
Review withholding and basis
Check the values attached to each vest/lot and any share-withholding assumption. A default assumption does not establish the shares the employer actually withheld. Reconcile actual records when they become available.
Review the Tax tab for modeled compensation income and subsequent sale effects. Withholding can differ from final liability; see withholding and estimated tax due.
Model a sale
Create or open a manual plan. Review the RSU inventory, select the intended shares, and set the proposed sale timing. The Sell RSUs as they Vest strategy can provide a starting schedule; inspect its resulting actions before saving.
Review holding-period treatment using the actual acquisition and sale dates. Avoid using a blanket day-count shortcut for every lot. Consult the client's tax professional for the applicable compensation and sale treatment. IRS Publication 525.
For awards requiring a liquidity condition as well as service vesting, follow Double-trigger RSUs.
